Gillian Rushford

I am dual qualified as both a solicitor and barrister, but I practice as a solicitor.

My approach to my work is to ensure that Clients receive efficient and effective strategic legal advice and professional guidance. I like to build a quality and value service as standard, this is what all clients aspire to and what keeps and engages them in our working relationship. I have a proven track record in building a client base because of the high quality of representation I deliver, and my reputation in the Courts.

I am hard working and focussed on building success for my clients to achieve the very best outcome possible for them in their individual cases.

By way of background, I started my career in Kent where I trained under a busy sole practitioner Solicitor who was also a Part Time District Judge. During my time in Kent, I was instructed in a number of big litigation cases, Starglade Properties Ltd v Nash [2010] EWCA Civ 1314 which was a case regarding dishonest assistance in a breach of trust, and which remains relevant to the issue of dishonesty as part of accessory liability.

I also was instructed in the case of Curran v Collins [2015] EWCA Civ 404, which remains a leading case on the issue of common intention constructive trusts, and which case was rejected by the Supreme Court for another appeal stage. I had also some complicated High Court Chancery matters which gave me significant litigation experience in the early stages of my career.

In my career I have ran cases in a wide variety of tribunals, Lands Tribunal, Immigration Tribunal, Social Security, Education and Welfare conducting a variety of different cases. I have worked frequently before senior Judges in local courts, Masters in the High Court on a range of different cases.

I have extensive knowledge of Family and Matrimonial matters, and frequently conduct the cases from start to conclusion dealing with all the advocacy to the concluding trials, some of which have been complicated multi-party matters.

I am experienced in the skill of legal research and drafting documents and preparing costs budgets and statements for the court. I have learnt to manage client expectations and to meet their cases with a planned strategic approach, whilst keeping the risk benefits alive to them as the case progresses.
